An interview with Lauren Ireland, Client Solutions

Date Posted: October 05, 2022

Lauren is a Client Solutions Account Management Lead at Alloy. She joined Alloy’s Vancouver office in March 2021 as a Client Solutions Analyst, and has since been promoted to recognize her excellent work with many of Alloy’s customers. Previously she worked as a production engineer at oil companies. Lauren has degrees from Queen’s University in Chemical Engineering and an MBA from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada.

What do you do at Alloy?

I help our customers use the Alloy software and make sure they’re getting business value out of Alloy. I manage the client relationship starting from when the contract has been signed all the way through renewal. That means helping with implementation, project management, training, relationship management across a vast array of client functions and levels–I’m regularly engaging with sales, sales analytics, planners, data analytics, finance and IT teams from the analyst level all the way up to the C-suite level.

Why did you join Alloy?

I previously worked at another tech startup in the Client Success function and wanted to sink my teeth into a more technically challenging area. My prior job was very front-end design & brand-focused, and I wanted to apply my engineering and technical background in a more analytical capacity.

It gives me the opportunity to be a strategic thought partner with our clients, allowing me to draw a very straight line between my role and the business value impact we deliver to our clients.

What’s the most exciting project you’ve worked on at Alloy?

A notable project was getting an early Alloy Planning customer up and running on our Planning product. Our primary client stakeholder was skeptical about how quickly we could move their planning processes over to Alloy, so it was very rewarding to convert him into an advocate where we earned his trust to conduct his company’s annual planning process in Alloy for their next fiscal year.

What first interested you in a career in Client Solutions/Success?

Client Solutions seemed like a great fit for me to apply both my engineering and MBA degrees. I liked the idea of combining my business and technical skills to be able to explain technical concepts to business users such that they can easily use our software to achieve their business goals. It also gives me the opportunity to be a strategic thought partner with our clients, allowing me to draw a very straight line between my role and the business value impact we deliver to our clients.

The final lift at a weightlifting competition!
How would you describe the culture at Alloy?

The values we have on the website are pretty much true to what we do. We have a close-knit team, especially here in Vancouver. Everyone feels welcome in the office. People are really nice and really smart, the combination of which is shockingly rare to find.

What do you like to do outside of the office?

Being outside! I like downhill skiing, am starting to ski tour, and also like weight lifting and hanging out with my Havanese dog Tilley.
